Hey. I have some problems with a mid 1466 macbook air and battery. I replaced it with a brand new one, but allready after a few months it starts saying “battery needs service”. Does it need a recalibration or SMC reset? Anyone else have experienced this? Best Update (03/21/2019) Hi Dan. Thanks for the answer, i got a hold on the macbook now. Here is picture with adaptor plugged in. Right now, if I remove power the macbook LCD goes black.

I have replaced battery and reset SMC. Shift ctrl alt power for 10 sec. Charger goes from orange to green to orange, as it should to confirm the reset. Right now the Mac battery % and Coconut does not seem to agree the current charge in %

Try recalibrating the battery. It probably is thinking it’s the old battery, even though you replaced it, so a recalibration should help. If not, try removing the battery, powering on the MacBook, shut down (safely!), and reinstall battery. Good luck!
