Hi, I had a mishap with my PS4 which resulted in it dropping to the floor from about 1 meter high Everything is still in working order other than my disk drive, the circle magnet which sits on top of the centre disk hole fell out, and whilst trying to reseat it I broke a fragile tab on part of the ‘claw’ which ejects the disk - see attached photo

I was wondering if anybody knows the correct term for the whole part which comes off first and whether I can just purchase this replacement part instead of the full disk drive as I imagine it will probably be cheaper Cheers Liam

That section is usually called the “clamper” as it magnetically clamps the disk to the spindle motor hub. I do not believe that this part is available as a separate part since the drive is usually sold as a complete unit and not normally repaired. The cheapest way to get this part would be to locate another non-functional unit and retrieve that part from there. Dan
