Opening up my late MBP I messed up the membrane of my left speaker, an authorized Apple repair center quoted me 650 euros to replace the entire top case (the speakers are glued to the body of the MBP). I managed to find a set of speakers for 70 euros harvested from a dead machine, so it is possible to remove them. I was wondering if anyone knows what is the best way to soften the adhesive? Do I need to use heat? Is it the same glue use for the battery? Do I need to get the battery solvent? Thanks!
The iFixit Adhesive Remover is great for that job. I use that adhesive remover for all my adhesive destroying needs. You can use Tesa tape as new adhesive too, if you wish. iFixit Adhesive Remover Tesa 61395 Tape
Hi. Did you fixed the your speakers? I need to fix a left speaker and I already bought it from iFixit. My problem is how to open the back plate of the MacBook, I think the screws are Torx 3. The screw is very tight in place and it is made with a hard metal, the Torx 3 driver bought I has a soft metal. It end up making my torx lose the teeth. I was very gentle but it did not help. I would like some advice on the matter.
