Just need to know if the surface mount caps and resistor on back of board can be fitted either way round, ref polarity ? as in pictures .Its for the ps50q97hd board bn44-00162A. Pictures only for reference.Thankyou.

Hi @moggy01 , With resistors it doesn’t matter which way they are mounted, either way the resistance is the same. Although one convention is that you mount all the resistors the same way on the board so that you don’t have to keep moving around to read the values ;-) With the capacitor, does the circuit diagram show that it is a polarized capacitor? The circuit diagram will show a +ve symbol on the capacitor denoting the capacitor’s +ve connection and that it is a polarized capacitor, e.g. an electrolytic or a polarized tantalum. In the 1st example image of a circuit below, 3 capacitors are polarized and one is not. Mostly the +ve end on the capacitor will be marked but sometimes it is the -ve end just to confuse and on the board itself it should be marked as to what the polarity is. (see images below)

(click on image to enlarge for better viewing) If the image of the “C4” capacitor in your question is only an example of what the capacitor looks like then it is not a polarized type and can be mounted either way, check for any markings on the capacitor’s position on the board just to be sure. Just make sure that you replace it with one that not only has the same capacitance value, but also has the same voltage rating (or greater if you can’t get one with the same voltage rating). Hopefully this is of some help
