This happened a couple weeks back when I noticed my joystick had drift, naturally I grabbed my WD-40 Contact cleaner, took the battery out and sprayed a lot on there, then I used my air duster to dry it called it a day, put the battery back in and loaded up blade and sorcery but I noticed my x button didn’t work however the capacitive touch center still worked for it. I replaced the battery and let it dry for a bit but still it wont work.

WD-40 is just mineral oil. The oil probably is lubricating the membrane and switch so much that it cannot read a press. To fix this I would recommend using 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol to clean away the oils. Be sure to not use WD-40 on electronics, as it is meant to lubricate and protect metal parts.
