I have a GE top load washer model GTW680BSJ5WS. It is not sensing that the lid is closed and therefore will not start. I have replaced the lid lock, unplugged it for an extended period of time, attempted to reset it, and it does not appear that any of the connections are loose. I am completely out of ideas of what is wrong and how to fix it.
@gigi21 before replacing any more parts, at least try to run the Field Service mode and see if it comes up with an error. Here are the instructions for the tests for your washer. It may look a bit complex so read through it a couple of times. If it does give you an error code let us know which one. GE-washer-Service-mode.pdf
If the lock did not resolve the problem, I would look at either the wiring harness for the lock (part #WH19X24141 ) or the lock striker which is part of the lid (part # WH02X24106). Since the striker is plastic, I would make sure that it is no broken or bent. Dan
If the lid switch does not work it is most likely the software update module that is needed
If you are missing a lid lock off your washing machine door when you close the door and the wash it don’t start you have to hit it is that because the other lid lock is missing will it do that if one is missing
