So my vent exhaust hose was sparking and electrified when I closed the door and the dryer started. The hose caught fire and before I got it unplugged I could see a growing orange glow right at where the hose connects to the dryer
Wow! Sounds like something was mis-wired in your house. Did you have any wiring work done or plug in anything new which could have been mis-wired? The dryers wiring internally could have become loose as well! Basically, your dryers chassis became hot and the dryer hose became the ground path!
