I have a TC-p50x5 that i got 2nd hand from my grandma. About 6 months ago we had this same issue at her house but we just unplugged the power cord from the tv and then plugged it back in and it worked. Now this has happened again about a week ago and once again it took a few times but unplugging it and plugging it back in worked. Now it happened AGAIN and i left it unplugged overnight and it still didn’t work. I have tried holding the power button for 60 seconds unplugged and then for another 60 seconds after i plugged it in. I am so sad cause i only have had this tv for about 2 weeks and I really can’t afford to buy one. I also had another power cord that fit this tv in an old box of cords and I tried that but it didnt work either.
Laura Scranton sounds like an issue with the power supply board. You will have to remove the back from your TV and check out the board. Check the fuses with a meter for continuity and see if you have have 5V on STBY5V, and 15V on F15V For further help/explanation, post some pictures of your boards etc. with your question so we can see what you see.
