My trackpad is not clicking sometimes I have noticed in the last two months, my laptop seems to not click with my trackpad. It would make click sound but not actually click. However, i had a bluetooth mouse and it was still not clicking. If i restarted my computer, it would work though, funny enough i left it like that since my wife has a macbook laptop too. Just last week, i turned it on and it was working properly but i already had an appointment booked at the genius bar. After going to the appointment, as expected he said that i would need to replace whole top case as with a new battery as it comes together. This is what i got from quote; Issue: Customer reports trackpad and keyboard intermittently respond Steps to Reproduce: Verified in store. Opened the device and found corrosion on left side of trackpad flex cable Cosmetic Condition: Dent to clamshell top right corner Heavy chips to clamshell top left corner Light scratches to bottom case Proposed Resolution: Replace the top case at out of warranty cost due to physical damage such as liquid damage. If further damage is found further cost will apply. Thank you everyone.
First run a good “Paid For” virus check on your system. I like Symantec Endpoint Protection.
if you are able to click some time there can be two reasons for that one is hard ware error other is software - software error can be resolved after trying reset pram and smc reset. After that check for latest drivers for the part facing problem. Update the firmware and check if the issue is resolved. if no there must be an hardware error the connection cable or the logic board is the main reason for this issue
