So all day i tried to connect it to my main tv. It didn’t work so i tried changing the hdmi cable and it still didn’t work, i tried on multiple other hdmi ports, nothing… i tried on another tv completely it won’t work. I tried to connect the power and the hdmi via a dongle it still didn’t work. The switch will have a black screen like it’s projecting the screen but i see nothing on the other end. Everything is original. I tried the tips and trick on the Nintendo page, on multiple videos aswell, nothing. I opened it changed the thermal paste and cleaned the fan. Also opened the dock and cleaned it. Anyone have any idea how to repair this ? I could send it to Nintendo but it’s waay to expensive.. Thank you 😊
Hi @Mumuse, At this point it looks to me like you’ve done everything possible to verify that the signal is not getting out of the board. You’ve already tried my first thought of trying a USB-to-HDMI dongle, so we know the dock itself isn’t the problem. So either there’s something wrong with the board itself that is usually outside the skillset of us home DIY-ers, or it could well be at the point of contact; the USB port itself. It’s entirely possible that the power pins are intact, allowing the port to charge and power the Switch, but there are 24 pins on that connector; 8 are for power and the other 16 are data transfer pins. My suggestion would be to carefully check the USB port. Get yourself a magnifying glass and a bright light and check the pins carefully. If nothing obvious shows itself then verify the pins for continuity to the solder pads. If you find any problems, then the solution at that point would be to replace the connector. If you have some reasonable soldering skills then doing that replacement should be fairly straight-forward with a soldering iron and some solder wick and/or a solder vacuum. Obviously I don’t need to point you the the guides, as you already know how to open up the Switch and work on it. Take a close look at that connector and let us know what you find.
