Chosen Solution
I recently acquired a 1969 RCA computer crafted component record cabinet. Everything seems to be working fine except the speakers. The aren’t busted in the front. But still make a terrible crackling noise on every channel (PHONE, TUNER, TAPE). Every further inspection there are 2 ceramic fuses inside the speakers but even after removing them they work better but still do nothing but crack. I assume it’s wiring but i’m not sure where. Let me know what you think?
Thanks.
kzozos looking at your images you have to explain some of the speaker wiring to us. Not quite sure what you got going on there.
You want to make sure that all the speakers are properly connector first. After that you will have to open up the back of your console and take a look at the chassis and see what is going on with that. Right now, looking at your wiring I would not be surpised that you are having some more interesting discoveries to make. The crackling sound could be your speakers or your amplifier. Connect a different (known-good) speaker to that unit and see what that will give you. I am also not sure where you “there are 2 ceramic fuses inside the speakers” see those. I do not see any of that but then I am old and have bad vision. If you can, give us a complete model number
