So I’ve had this TI 84 Plus CE for less than 24 hrs and this happens. Literally happened in the middle of doing matrices. Tried to see if doing the LCD test would fix this with no luck. Hasn’t been dropped or banged around; considering it cost me $150 I treat it better than family. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hey, it looks like you got unlucky and received a defective display. Assuming it’s just the LCD that’s broken you could fix it by swapping it out with a known working display. Unfortunately, there’s no place for you to just buy the LCD by itself and there are very few ‘for-parts’ TI 84 Plus CEs out there. Since the calculator is less than 24 hours old, I would just contact TI Cares; they can send you a working calculator. If you need your calculator working right now then TI-84 Plus CE Recovery Techniques. might contain a temporary fix, however I don’t know how long the possible fix could last. I wouldn’t try opening up the calculator since that may cause issues with your warranty.
