I have an older motor home. The water heater is heated by propane. when I turn the switch to ON, the propane fires, everything sounds good, however, 15 to 20 minutes later there is still no hot water and the propane is still firing.

Alice, check the tank to see if it is warm when no hot water is coming out of the faucet. If it is, then the heater itself is working, and the water is being stopped or rerouted somewhere. Depending on your model, there could be a water heater bypass. It is a switch that routes the water away from the water heater, and if you find it you may just have to switch it back the other way. Since it is propane I would suggest to have any complete repairs and check-ups done by a professional. I would not want you to burn down your RV and have you or your family get seriously hurt.

It sounds like the winterizing valve is turned to “bypass” and there is no water in the tank.

I have that problem but the about 2 seconds there is warm water. Could it still could be bypass valve?
