Chosen Solution
I have a Maytag refrigerator that stopped working after an extended 3-hour power outage. Searching the internet I found that this is due to a fault on the control board, WPW10312695. This board is used on a number of North American manufactured refrigerators. No one appeared to be able to repair the board but there were several sites willing to sell a replacement board. I decided to throw a heat gun on the board because the refrigerator did work while it had been running. Sure enough, after about a minute at a low heat the refrigerator started up and ran. I quickly put it back together so that I could start the cooling. This is unfortunately only a temporary solution.
Everything now was good but I was determined to repair the problem now that everything in the refrigerator was cold. I removed the power and opened the back of the refrigerator and removed the control board. Next to U8 on the board is a 10uf capacitor. When I tested it, it measured only 10nf. I replaced the capacitor and the refrigerator was able to start on its own from cold and has worked ever since. I hope that someone else will find this helpful.
