Chosen Solution
I found a ps3 super slim at my work. ( I clean out mobile homes) all discs will spin up but only dvd’s, and cd’s will read. Blue ray movies and ps3 game discs won’t work. The internet and other forums said that a weak laser is to blame so I replaced that, made sure all the ribbon cables are fully seated, held the disc door closed so everything would spin up…and now it won’t read any kind of media. With games it will show the spin up symbol but not load it up. With cd’s it says loading error “check network settings” if you have any idea of what I need to fix/replace or try then hit me up. This is my last try at fixing this thing :)
Hi @tactipants Most likely the blu ray lens section is faulty. Sadly seems it is quite common. I had helped some of my family members in replacing the lens traverse mechanism part. After some time of usage, maybe a couple of years, it failed again and have to repeat the procedure. Not sure if it is due to bad part / quality or somewhat has caused this. Based on the info provided by folks around…. you need to find the matching lens mechanism part to do replacement.
