I opened up my PS3 after several years of use and went about cleaning it. After reassembling it, and double checking the wires and connections as I went, I plugged it back in. The red light indicating it was receiving power turned on but when I went to turn the PS3 on it flickered to green and then shut off completely. A couple attempts to find the source of the problem later I’ve given up temporarily until I can get some help.

strange , sounds like the yellow ring of death . But this is usually caused because of overheating. if all cables are connected properly then i would think it would be a yellow ring of death issue. Check this video for more info. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMG-6rba

I was having the same exact problem man I took it back apart and started inspecting the power unit and if you look where the prongs go in there’s really nowhere for the dust that you blow out to go to so you have to manually clean that part and the prongs but of course be careful while doing so. I dont know if it is this way on yours but one of my long screws werent lining up right and if it was in, the problem remained, I left It out and it works great again. fixed it for me and my problem was identical to yours.
