My picture went black but I still have sound. How can I fix that?

Deborah Johnstone  in a darkened room and on a channel that has sound, shine a flashlight beam at an angle against the screen. Check to see if you can make out shapes or silhouettes. You can of course also remove the back from your TV and disconnect the main board from the power board. See if that turns your backlight on. You can see it through the whole in the back of the chassis over for the panel. If you do not show shapes silhouettes etc. then it is most like a t-con or main board issue.
